A 26-YEAR-OLD Buhera man has been arrested on charges of killing his drunken 55-year-old mother in cold blood for making noise after coming from a beer drinking binge

Manicaland police spokesperson Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa said on Sunday, Tendai Chimwata, from Gumbere homestead under Chief Nyashanu in Buhera, left home in the morning for a beer drinking binge in the same village.

At around 7pm, the now-deceased returned home and along the way, she met some of her sons and they walked home together.

All along, Chimwata was singing and on arrival home, they found the accused, Sinceliwe Gumbere, there.

Gumbere was annoyed by his mother’s noise and asked her to be quite, but the now-deceased could not take his orders.

Annoyed, the accused took a wood log and started assaulting her.

The other deceased’s son, Jairos, tried in vain to stop his angry brother and alerted their uncle, Akim Chimwata, who stays a stone’s throw away from their home.

When Jairos got back together with Akim, they found the deceased in a pool of blood and unconscious.

Chimwata was not taken to hospital and died the following day.

A report was made at Muzokomba Police Station, leading to the arrest of the accused person.
