Two self-styled Glendale traditional healers have been arrested on charges of duping a Mazowe woman of ZWL$3 200 on the pretext of casting out a bad spell.

Obsolom Chimwai (38) and Millicent Kanyemba (30) appeared before Bindura magistrate Maria Msika on Wednesday where they pleaded not guilty to a charge of fraud.

The State alleges that on a date not known to the prosecution, the pair phoned Rachel Gopane (25) of house number 998 Mazowe Valley and told her that she was going to be struck by lightning due to a bad spell.

Chimwai cooked up more stories to coax Gopane into capitualting and fearing for her life, the complainant gave in.

The duo demanded ZWL$10 000 for the bad spell to be removed by traditional healers in Guruve, but the complainant only managed to raise $3 200.

Edward Katsvairo represented the State.
