THE MDC was this week making last-minute campaigns to win tomorrow’s Nyanga ward 26 by-lection with the party’s Manicaland provincial youth leadership going door-to-door to drum up support for their candidate.

Vincent Bopoto of MDC will square off against Bisset Mapeta of Zanu PF for the ward which fell vacant following the death of Elias Mashumba early this year.

“We want to retain the ward at all cost to show our seriousness, our national youth chairman Obey Sithole was in Nyanga South last weekend drumming up support for our candidate,” provincial spokesperson David Panganai said.

“Our national youth chairman’s message was very clear: That the party was an alternative government to this clueless lot, and that we are going to take advantage of (President) Emmerson Mnangagwa’s mismanagement of the economy.”

He added: “We are now camping in Nyanga South conducting door-to-door campaigns. Recently, we also conducted a workshop where we trained our polling agents on how to conduct business on election day.”

Bopoto saluted the national and provincial youth leadership for the support they were giving him and was hopeful the MDC would retain the seat.
