In an incident that shocked Beatrice villagers, a 27-year-old Harare fishmonger was attacked and killed by a crocodile before his body was discovered with his private parts missing.

Paul Nyamhanza, of Hopley in Harare, was attacked by the reptile in the company of his younger brother Jeremiah (19) while casting fishing nets at Elladale Farm Dam in Beatrice.

His body was recovered by Zimparks rangers with his manhood missing.

Mashonaland East provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident and urged members of the public to stay away from crocodile-infested water bodies.

“I confirm the death of a man from Hopley in Harare, who was attacked by a crocodile at a dam in Beatrice. The deceased was in the company of another adult man casting their fishing nets when he was attacked by the reptile,” he said.

Jeremiah escaped unhurt and reported the matter to Zimparks rangers.
