GWERU-BASED gospel outfit Joyful Praise, currently riding on the wave of their popular song Ngoro Yeminana, are set to take centre stage at the Gospel Soul Nights event set for Utano Gardens in Harare, tomorrow evening.

Gospel Soul Nights, a brainchild of upcoming gospel artiste, Joel Chiweda, makes a return to the local entertainment scene after a lengthy hiatus.

Top local saxophonist Joseph Chinouriri is also billed to perform, alongside Chiweda and renowned poet So Profound who recently released a new project titled Petals.

There is also some comedy lined up, but the choir from Midlands is easily the star attraction.

“Joyful Praise Choir will be gracing the show. We are so excited that we are to have them come and perform since we are stretching ourselves to talent that is outside Harare. JPC has done phenomenally well on their last project with the song Ngoro Yeminana, which took Zimbabwe by storm,” Chiweda said.

Chiweda began the Gospel Soul Nights events in 2017, with the dream to create alternative entertainment outings for Christians and seasoned artistes such as Janet Manyowa, Tembalani, Mabel Madondo, Tammy Moyo and Prayer Soul have graced the event.

But it’s almost a year since the last event was held.

“During the break, I took time to restructure things. I made significant progress in terms of getting strategic persons to help carry the vision, and so our backbone is stronger now. This vision is definitely moving forward regardless of the economic constraints,” Chiweda said.
