Four men, who are facing 60 counts of forgery after manufacturing fake identity documents, driver’s licences and passports at an office in the Harare central business district were on Tuesday denied bail and remanded to April 28.

Tonderai Mashonganyika (42), John Chipawa (43), Farai Mambemba (37) and Kirthmore Magqoka (45) appeared before magistrate Barbara Mateko, who dismissed their application for bail.

It is alleged the accused persons forged several driver’s licence discs which they sold to unsuspecting prospective drivers.

The State alleges one of the victims, Tapiwa Dangaranga was arrested while in possession of the fake driver’s licence and he implicated Chipawa, Mambemba and Magqoka.

The State alleges fake driver’s licences for Wendy Gwara, Sibanengi Sibanda, Ian Malison, Arineshito Makocha, Mpanda Rumbidzai, Lovejoy Chibaya, Sindiso Ncube, Edson Majaka, Godknows Chipunza, Rusere Julia, Tapfuma Moila, Mubvumbi Philimon, Kitikiti Moses, Munyanyi Laston and a Zimbabwe passport for Nota Blessing, among other documents were recovered from the suspects’ office.
