ZBC journalist Makwanya dies

Long-serving Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC) journalist Judith Makwanya has died.

She was 55.

Makwanya died late Monday night at a private clinic in Harare following a short illness.

Her brother, David, said she succumbed to multiple organ failure at West End Hospital, where she had been admitted on Friday.

Born Judith Tendesai Makwanya on October 22, 1963 in Rusape, she joined ZBC in June 1990 as a news reporter and was later elevated to diplomatic correspondent. She did her “O” and “A” Levels at St David’s Girls High in Manicaland between 1977 and 1982.

She obtained a Master of Arts in Journalism at Minsk State University in the then Union of Soviet Socialist Republic between 1983 and 1989.

Mourners are gathered at 98 Zambezi Flats in Harare. Burial arrangements are yet to be annouced. — ZBC News
