TWO suspected armed robbers, who targeted cross-border buses, appeared before Beitbridge regional magistrate Crispen Mberewere on Tuesday facing additional charges of attempted murder allegedly committed when they opened fire on a bus and injured a passenger.
Samuel Moyo (29) of Chipinge and Fraddy Ginotry Chibwana (28) of Mkoba, Gweru are already serving a combined 51-year jail term each, together with their accomplice Jobson Shonhe (39), who was convicted for robbery and illegal possession of fire arms.
The pair was convicted on three counts of attempted murder and two counts of armed robbery.
Moyo and Chibwana pleaded not guilty to another attempted murder charge when they appeared before Mberewere who remanded them to March 25 for continuation of trial.
The State represented by Munyonga Kuvarega indicated that it will call for evidence from a Karoi woman who was shot and injured when the robbers indiscriminately fired shots at a Blue Circle bus during a robbery.
Shonhe is also facing another attempted murder case committed in Karoi.
The court heard that on January 29 this year along Masvingo-Beitbridge Road at around 3pm, the three robbed a Blue Circle bus which was travelling from Kadoma to Beitbridge. The bus was attacked near Rutenga business centre in Mwenezi.

They also robbed a Kabor bus from Harare to Zambia using the same modus operandi during which some people got shot.
In count one they got away with $3 077 bond, US$12 235, R45 610 and only $680 bond was recovered. In the second count, they went away with $893 bond, US$555, 1 505 Kwacha, R300 and only $153 bond was recovered.
The three were arrested by officials from the Beitbridge Criminal Investigations Department who recovered some of the stolen property.
