POLICE have upped their recruitment policy in a bid to improve on quality of trainees by stepping up on qualifications.
In a statement last week, national police spokesperson Commissioner Charity Charamba said the force would now only accept applicants aged between 18 and 22 years and with a minimum of five Ordinary Level passes.
“The police wishes, therefore, to advise members of the public and those who had conducted interviews and had been put on the waiting list that the recruitment policy has been amended with immediate effect. Potential police recruits are now required to be aged between 18-22 years old and be in possession of a minimum of five Ordinary Level passes, which include Mathematics, English and Science attained in not more than two sittings,” the statement reads.
Charamba said these were the new considerations the police will be looking at going forward, although they are currently not recruiting.
“Members of the public are, therefore, advised that future recruitment exercises will be advertised in both print and electronic media when the need arises,” she said.
