“It’s going to be a clean-up campaign as part of the national clean-up day declared by President Emmerson Mnangagwa on December 5, 2018. Every first Friday of each month is a clean-up day and everyone is expected to participate from 8am to 10am in Gweru. First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa will be the guest of honour at the Gweru occasion,” EMA Midlands provincial spokesperson Simon Musasiwa said.

He urged people across the province to observe the day.

“People can clean their surroundings and advise their local authorities through their ward councillors on areas they would be cleaning. It is expected that everyone participates in these events, so as to achieve a clean and healthy Zimbabwe. Corporates are encouraged to assist communities in kind to ensure the success of the programme,” Musasiwa said.

“EMA continues to advise the public that littering is an offence and anyone found littering will be prosecuted.”
