In an interview with NewsDay Life & Style yesterday, concert organiser Learnmore Tavengwa, of The Spirit Choir, said the show — which will feature over 10 choirs drawn from different churches — is meant to foster unity among gospel artistes.

“The One Voice concert is to be held under the theme United for Christ and is all about fostering unity among gospel musicians and choirs from different churches and give them a chance to showcase their talent on one big stage as there is a lot of undiscovered talent that need to be exposed,” he said.

“We are calling for people to come in their numbers and unite as they worship together. This year’s edition of the concert is going to be bigger and better, with more artistes from different Christian denominations taking to the stage.”

Tavengwa said the guest artiste, Suluma, would share the stage with several other performers.

Suluma is based in the United States.

Some of the performers on the day include Zimpraise Choir, United Family International Church choir, Heartfelt Worship Team, Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries’ Yadah Choir, Covenant Praise, Africa Praise and TOG Praise Team.

“We are happy with the preparations that are so far going according to the script. Our guest artiste, Mai Suluma, is arriving in the country tomorrow (today), so that she will have ample time for rehearsal ahead of concert,” he said.

“The concert is scheduled to start at 2pm in order to accommodate the interdenominational choirs that will share the stage with our guest, Mai Suluma, who will close the concert.”

Tavengwa said apart from the famous gospel voices, Simon Chimbetu’s daughter, Saiwe, has also been accorded the opportunity to perform at the event.
