Thankful Bird Foundation director Tatenda Nyoni said proceeds from the concert would be channelled to Gwanda Old People’s Home.

“Everything is now in place for the concert to take place. It’s a platform for people to give what they have to the Gwanda Old People’s Home. Come on the 8th, with your cheerful, tolerant, open heart and give what you can. It’s not about the quantity of the gift, but it’s about the quality of the heart of the giver,” he said.

Nyoni said the concert would also provide artistes in Gwanda an opportunity to showcase their music to old and potential fans.

“This concert also enables artistes or music groups in Gwanda to reach out to their fans. So we have Khulumani FM presenter Marvellous Tshuma, Word of Life minister in Bulawayo Xolani Dube, Hybrid Psalms, Blessed Assurance, Afro-Mag, Zhezhingtonz and Heart of Worship who will grace the event,” he said.

“It’s basically for the Gwanda-based artistes and a few from out of Gwanda.”

Nyoni said he came up with the initiative in 2014 after his visit to Norway in 2010 for an exchange programme.

“In 2010, when I went to Norway for a youth sports exchange programme, I was asked; ‘If you were given a chance to make a difference in society, what would you do?’ I then decided to make the world a better place through giving to the less privileged,” he said.
