Dzingai Nyamhungu (37), of Ngoroza village under Chief Chisunga, pleaded not guilty before magistrate Artwell Sanyatwe, who remanded him in custody to December 10.
The State, led by prosecutor Albert Mazhindu, alleges that on April 21, members of the Zimbabwe National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority rangers, Robert Chowa and Christopher Machingauta, together with the police working on a tip-off contacted the accused on his mobile phone purporting to be buyers.
They met Nyamhungu at Angwa Secondary School and he demanded to see the money before producing the elephant tusks.
The accused was shown the money by Chowa before consenting to the deal.
He then disappeared into the bush and later phoned Chowa advising him to drive towards Angwa Bridge in Mushumbi Pools.
Upon arrival at Mhande village under Chief Chisunga, Chowa was signalled to stop by the accused, who was waiting by the road side.
