Former Highlanders star Ralph Matema gave the visitors the lead in the 40th minute before Lameck Nhamo cancelled it out in the 44th minute.

Triangle gaffer Taurai Mangwiro praised his charges for showing character to clinch all three points.

He said the win raised morale ahead of their mouthwatering fixture against Caps United in the capital.

“We came into the match knowing that we needed to collect maximum points at all costs and we did well in the last minutes of the match after we introduced Patrick Magegedla who changed the complexion of the match ,we needed fresh legs (and) that is why we gave Magegedla a chance,” he said.

“The win gave us a morale boost ahead of our match against Caps United.”

His counterpart Ruzive said that they lost focus in the last stages of the match.

“I am worried because in our last matches we have been conceding late in the match. In our previous match, we conceded in the last three minutes so we need to rectify that,” he said.

Both teams had a slow start and failed to produce meaningful chances until in the 18th minute when Deliric Murimba shot wide with the visitors goalkeeper Stephen Chimusoro at his mercy.

The visitors refused to be cowed into submission as Leeroy Mavhunga troubled the Lowveld-based side with his sublime skills.

Matema then showed that he is still capable of doing great things even at his advanced age.

He cleverly chipped past Tapiwa Chilenga for his team to thrust forward.

Just four minutes later, Nhamo produced a solo effort to restore parity.

Triangle started the second half on the offensive and in the 63rd minute Byron Madzokere was forced to clear off the line a Phenious Bhamusi shot.

Kawondera scored the all-important goal in the 90th minute after he was set up by Magegedla.
