Stella Gwande appeared before Mutare magistrate Tendai Mahwe, who remanded her out of custody to September 6.

She was ordered to continue to reside at her given address and report once every week at Mutare Central Police Station as part of her bail conditions.

It is the State’s case that on August 15, 2018, at around 5pm detectives received information to the effect that the accused was cultivating mbanje.

Acting on the tip-off, constables Trymore Kamota, Yemurai Hove and Ezekiel Machiri, among others, approached the accused at her house and informed her about the alleged crime.

The accused then led the detectives to her garden where 104 plants of dagga were recovered, leading to her arrest.
