’Mat North residents should brace for good times under ED’

MATABELELAND North residents have been challenged to brace for the good times and an economic boom to come under President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa’s new administration.

Makomo Resources technical services manager, Siphathisiwe Nkomo, who was the guest of honour at Hwange’s annual agricultural show, said she was impressed by what the exhibitors showcased.

“It is important that we as a province, put our heads together to embrace these developments that are coming in Zimbabwe. We need to focus our efforts on increasing production so that we can be in a position to export products and earn the much-needed foreign currency,” she said.

She said Mnangagwa had invited foreign companies to invest in the country for the benefit of citizens who must work diligently to curb corruption.

The agricultural show’s chairman, Honye Hebert Sansole echoed Nkomo’s sentiments, adding that Mnangagwa had pledged to devolve power to the poverty-stricken province.

“There should be some change in our organisations to improve the economy. Devolution is coming to the province and we should be ready to take it forward together,” he said.

Nkomo said women showed more commitment to livestock and crops production, mainly focusing on small grains. She implored communities to embrace small grains as they were yielding good results in the province.

A disabled villager in Cross Mabale, Dete, Lucy Ncube, walked away with multiple gifts and certificates after she was adjudged the best in both livestock and crop production.
