The State alleges that on March 1, the deceased, who was not named in court papers, visited the accused Luke Chidhiza’s sheebeen in Hlinzana village under Chief Mapungwana and asked to drink beer on credit.

Chidhiza, however, shot down the request, insisting that the deceased must first settle his outstanding bill.

This did not go down well with the deceased, who allegedly shouted obscenities at Chidhiza, leading to a fist fight.

Chidhiza allegedly kicked the deceased several times on the head, before other imbibers intervened and restrained him.

The deceased allegedly collapsed and died on his way home.

Chidhiza was remanded in custody to August 24 for trial.
