AU happy with Zim polls preps

THE African Union (AU)’s observer mission yesterday said it was satisfied with Zimbabwe’s preparations for elections next week.

BY RICHARD CHIDZA

Head of delegation and former Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemarian Desalegn Boshe told journalists on arrival in Harare that they were happy with the electoral processes despite howls of disapproval from the
opposition.

“I expect a democratic free and fair election as the preparation shows,” Boshe said.

“So far its fine, it’s going in the right direction. There are complaints (from the opposition), but we are working on those issues. By and large, the government has prepared for these elections to be free, fair and democratic,” the former Ethiopian leader, who was forced to step down a few months ago following rolling protests, said.

These guys can not be counted on to ensure free and fair elections. They have always “okeyed” Mugabes elections even though the degree of unfairness and electoral manipulation was blatant.Africa is backward because of our leaders. We haven’t forgotten what Thabo Mbeki did to Tsvangirai and the Zimbabwean electorate.Hopefully the time will come when we have to remind them of their treachery to the Zimbabwean democratic movement!

Hailemarian Desalegn Boshe, would that you explained how you are dealing with the objections presented by the opposition. And that you will make a public statement before the elections on the outcome of your interventions.

  21. These ones are here to sanitize rigging.. Everyone knows that ZANU PF has rigged the elections already..
