… As Biti challenges ballot paper design

OPPOSITION People’s Democratic Party party leader Tendai has taken the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (Zec) and its chairperson Justice Priscilla Chigumba to court seeking an order to stop the elections management body from posting ballot papers for the presidential election to applicants who have applied for postal voting and to redesign the ballot paper.

Biti, through his lawyer Tonderai Bhatasara filed an urgent chamber application in the Electoral Court on Wednesday 18 July 2018 seeking an order to stay the use of the current presidential ballot paper designed and printed by Zec and for the elections management body to take make corrective measures ahead of the July 30 polls.

He argued that the way Zec designed the ballot paper for the presidential election gives unfair prominence to Zanu PF candidate Emmerson Mnangagwa ahead of his rivals, including MDC Alliance candidate Nelson Chamisa.

The party also demanded access to the final voters’ roll.

    What genuine issue? Does it mean that if someone is put on the top part of 23 candidates then voters will chose him or her? Are you taking Zimbabweans for illiterate people? Zvimwe zvanyanya

  6. If ED is to occupy his real position on the ballot paper (by alphabetical order) I don’t think even he will be able to locate himself on it, this is just broad daylight cheating by ZEC

We tired of noise after noise from these useless people like Biti who were silent when they were part and parcel of government.You said you have the support go into the ring and see on the 30th instead of making unnecessary noise.After all staying virgil at Zec offices will not stop Chigumba from getting inside and outside of her office since her safety will be guaranteed

  12. To avoid the unnecessary noise Zec should abide by laid down rules and follow the alphabetical order up to the last cndidate. You cant blame Biti for the unnecesary controvecy created by Zec.
