In a statement ahead of today’s Child Happiness Day, Childline Zimbabwe said latest technological development had come in handy to advance the rights of the children.
The children rights group’s Mashonaland regional manager, Marshall Kaseke, said they now had a call centre, which records calls from children in need of assistance.
“We receive between 1 500 to 2 000 calls a day and the system now records the calls made,” he said.
“As a country, we have embraced ICT’s by creating an educational curriculum that promotes their use and our government has been making efforts to avail resources that allows schools to promote the use of ICT’s in schools.”
This year’s commemorations will run under theme Using Inclusive Technology for Children and Young People’s Well-being.
At least 32% of the total reports received relate to children aged between 13-15.
