The team which comprised David Amm (Cpt), Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa, Tafara Mpofu, Thompson Masiya, Rashid Mohammed, Tatenda Makunde, Promise Sumbureiro and Conrad Makoto put up an impressive performance.

A total of seven countries that included Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and hosts Zimbabwe participated at this year’s tournament.

Zimbabwe narrowly lost to pre-tournament favourites South Africa by a point.

ZGA secretary-general, Lazarus Clever said he was pleased with the team’s show and said they could actually have won it.

“Overally, the guys played very well, it’s only that our guys made some few blunders, which cost us in the end. This shows that we are improving in terms of experience. We need to then work on the players’ weaknesses well in advance, as opposed to working on players a month or two before a tournament,” he said.
