The court heard that on January 23 this year, the complainant was sent to borrow tomatoes at Nyamapfeni’s house, but she found the convict’s wife in a hurry to go to church and was advised to come later.

An hour later, the complainant went back to Nyamapfeni’s house where the convict took advantage of his wife’s absence, grabbed the teenager and undressed her in a bid to rape her.

The complainant, however, broke loose and rushed back home where she reported her ordeal, leading to Nyamapfeni’s arrest by community members who handed him over to the police.

Ephraim Zinyandu appeared for the State.
