Trinity Musandiriri of Maruma Village, under Chief Nyamukoho in Mudzi was found hanging from a tree after accusing his mother Norest Musandiriri (40) of bewitching him.

Mashonaland East acting provincial police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident and urged the public to solve their differences amicably to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.

“I confirm the death of a Mudzi man who after coming from a church service, accused his mother of casting a spell on him before telling her that he was going to kill himself. I urge the public to solve their differences amicably and respect the sanctity of life to avoid such incidents,” he said.

According to police, on April 14, at 1pm, the now deceased returned from an overnight church vigil before accusing her mother of casting a bad spell on him. It is reported that this infuriated his mother who demanded to know how she had bewitched him.

A heated argument allegedly broke out before the deceased declared that he would commit suicide. Six hours later, Trinity bolted out of the family hut towards Chanyangara Mountain where his body was later found hanging from a tree.

The deceased’s body was taken to Kotwa District Hospital for a post mortem.
