Agnes Chigwada (37) from Dangamvura in the eastern border city appeared before Mutare magistrate, Tendai Mahwe for stabbing Josam Mapinge (46) from the same neighbourhood. Chigwada, who was represented by prominent Mutare lawyer, Chris Ndlovu was remanded to April 9 for trial.

It is the State’s case that on February 21, 2018, Mapinge visited Chigwada’s place of residence.

Upon arrival, Chigwada asked for the complainant’s cellphone. Mapinge handed over the cellphone, but after some minutes he demanded his cellphone back.

According to prosecutor, Brian Goto, Chigwada fled with the complainant’s cellphone and locked herself in the house.

The complainant gained entry through another entrance, but Chigwada refused to hand it over, grabbed a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Mapinge once on the stomach. His medical report will be produced as an exhibit.
