Wadzanai Nadzo, of Plot 28, Masomera, under Chief Svosve, died from burns she sustained.
Her husband, Loverage Mnandi, also sustained burns in a bid to rescue the now-deceased.
Mashonaland East acting provincial police spokesperson Inspector Tendai Mwanza confirmed the incident and appealed to the public to desist from domestic violence.
According to police, on March 12, Mnandi went on a drinking spree at Masomera business centre only to return home at around 3am.
He allegedly woke up his wife demanding sadza, leading to a heated argument.
As the scuffle intensified, Nadzo reportedly went out of the house in a fit of rage and came back holding a container with petrol.
