Norman Mapeza ‘quits’ FC Platinum

FC PLATINUM head coach Norman Mapeza has reportedly quit the Zvishavane-based club. Sources last night said his departure came after the club’s heavy defeat last week Wednesday in the Confederations of African Football Champions League, where they were bundled out on an embarrassing 5-1 aggregate scoreline by Angolan side Clube Desportivo de Agosto. The club held a crisis meeting last night to map the way forward.

  1. it was about time after messing up in africa safari that was the best decision

  2. It would be a sad day if FC Platinum were to dismiss Mapeza as a result of his team’s dismal performance in the CAF champions league on the first attempt! What they should do instead is to concentrate on retaining their local league championship then maybe judge his performance in CAF competitions on a second but most appropriately, on a third attempt. Be that as it may, the championship is going to any of the following big four teams and not FC Platinum; Dembare, Kepekepe, Bosso or Ngezi Platinum.Bhora mberi!

    1. its about results mate both local and outside the borders and soccer coaches are judged on that and hired and fired for that, its unfortunate there is not time for experiments.

  3. Good debate Eleasha and I entirely agree with you on the issue of results! However, in my opinion FC Platinum do not have the depth and quality to compete on the continental showpiece and so the entire establishment should collectively accept responsibility for results.

    1. What do you mean, they do not have depth and quality. FC Platinum availed to Norman all his requirements which he had asked for. So the executive did its part. It was left for Norman to deliver. And also consider the scoreline. That was an embarrassing defeat. It was all Norman’s inefficiency. Ask Yvonne Mangunda who watched the first game. Norman had no plan

  4. Charlie 1, I agree. FC Platinum must not part ways with Mapeza. What they need is to build depth in the team and also prepare well for the African Safari.

  5. Dzizdzai kubva kuArsenal veduweeee

    1. kudzidza kugara une bp?

  6. Gwinyayi Nyambodza

Nomara has to wake up to the harsh realities of the world of football.Tough luck mate get up and dust yourself,it is not the end of the world.

  7. this is tough luck,it is unfortunate we are judged by results unfortunately Norman could not make lemonade from the lemons provided by the money bags

  8. mutasa shamwari nzwisisa boyz yako just last chance

  9. MAPEZA wazviona zvakabvira Rahman Gumbo kaaaa aisa hwina negoal difference kwete kuti haana enough points kugona kunenge kudada should know kuti our level is soccer muzim as compared to south africa hatina as many sponsors aS S.A so kuhwina league nekucaf zvinhu two zvakasiyana most players have not that experience

  10. Rather than firing Mapeza the Executive must explain what was happening in their 1 – 0 wins from penalties in seven games. This false impression deceived all because come African Safari you hardly get wins that easy. How many teams came out crying from Mandava? For Nomara hard luck home boy.

  11. Mapeza had all resources to win CAF. Monoz and Gunners impressed with little resources downing giants pof Africa. Dembare did the same. FC Platinum have disappointed before, records are there. This was just an embarassment

  12. Kutotadzisa DeMbare kuhwina league ne 7 wins based on dubious penalties.. Only Dynamos has proved to have the attitude and caliber to dance with the African Giants…. the history books are there for all to see…..Dhiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  13. Newsday journalists are the most happiest pple right now. Since they are staunch dynamos supporters, they wrote sh!t about Nomara and now he is fired, they are very happy. The next move for Newsday scribes is to vigorously campaign for Pasuwa to get the Platinum job. THE BONE OF CONTENTION IS BECOZ, PLATINUM WON THE LEAGUE WHILE dynamos, A TEAM LOVED BY NEWSDAY JOURNALISTS FAILED TO WIN THE LEAGUE.

  14. Mapeza must just pack his bags and go, there is nothing like collective responsibility for his failure, if he had raised an issue with his bosses before hand the issue could have been viewed differently. Ngachingoenda.

  15. leadmore magomo

sorry mapeza but look at it this way ,you were given an open cheque to buy any player you want in and out of zimbabwe ,then you only manage to beat dynamos narrowly by two points despite the quality of plyers. you are yet to prove yourself to be a ggood coach mushinawemajuzi

  16. Comment…platinum yakambotamba muchampions league kamwe chete b4 after they came second to Dynamos ikazotambazve muCAF confederation cup then apa apaaa. saka zvekuti first attempt nop even under mapeza wacho nop. platinum mukatarisa yakahwina 7 games this past season nemapena zvino kuCAF champions league hakuna izvozvo otherwise the people who deserved to win league iDembare vakapiwa 1 pena chete the whole season
