A VICTORIA Falls taxi driver allegedly hid his real name from his ex-wife for seven years until he was arraigned before the courts for the upkeep of his seven-year-old daughter.

Nqobokuhle Sibanda was dragged to court by his ex-wife Precious Mpofu, who was demanding $100 maintenance of their Grade Two child.
Sibanda appeared before magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje, where in the docket, he was identified as Edmore Sibindi.
The two recently terminated their seven-year marriage.
Sibanda, however, told the magistrate that his real name was Nqobokuhle Sibanda and produced his national identity card as proof, adding that he did not want his then wife to know his real name.
It was after the magistrate had asked him to confirm his name and surname with supporting documents.
“She knew me as Edmore for almost 10 years, but I’m Nqobokuhle Sibanda,” he said.

Sibanda declined to support the child, arguing that he doubted if it was his and that he was now remarried with another child and was unemployed.
“The child still has no birth certificate and he is lying that he cannot afford $100 as he works as a taxi driver and this child is his because we were married already when she was born,” Mpofu said.
“No I’m not a taxi driver, how can I be a driver when I do not have a driver’s licence,” Sibanda refuted.
The magistrate ordered him to pay $30 monthly until the child reaches 18 years.
Sibanda was advised to go for paternity tests to allay his fears.
