Ministers ordered to declare assets

PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa has ordered all senior public officials, among them ministers, heads of ministries, members of constitutional commissions and chief executives of parastatals, to declare their assets as part of efforts to create a transparent and accountable workforce.

By Staff Reporter

In a statement, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda said all senior public service officers should submit a written declaration of their assets by the end of next month.

He said the declaration of assets document should contain details of all immovable property owned and those in which they have interests.

Sibanda said the document should also include any item of movable property exceeding $100 000 in value owned or leased by the individual concerned or in which he or she has any other interest.

The public officers should also declare any business in which they have an interest and play a part in running.

“The President expects the full and urgent co-operation of all affected office bearers in responding to this directive,” Sibanda said.

  8. They have been given five weeks to move around the investments or sell some of them. They should have also declared their bank balances because you can get away with this is you have a stash of say $900m in the bank.

  9. Pliz, it is just declaration, nothing more, and nothing less. Do not speculate.Kuthiwe “Declaration”. You are just listing what you have and the Govt did not say they will be purging or anything after that.

What??? So the register of companies is going to be very busy during the five weeks with CR14s being changed, sizahleka la when they trip and forget some details. ED shut down the Register of Companies entity. But well, the fish stinks from the head

Can’t wait to see Mpofu announcing his. Go on Mr President, the voter is watching.

  13. ed the system that kept mugabe is still intact soooo let me reintroduce an induction to ur illegitimate presidence reform or a repeat of another stay in office with no tangible results see u in the ballot box and since u came in politics u have never been voted

  14. A good move but i suspect that it is flowed. First, the timeframe is too long. It gives them time to change ownership in some of the business interests. Second, the $100 000 cut-off amount is too high, a business is a business no matter the size. Three: Zim number 1 should set the ball rolling to be seen to be serious.

  15. magnificent post, very informative. I wonder why the other specialists of this sector do not notice this. You must continue your writing. I am confident, you have a great readers’ base already!
