Masondo died in 2015 and his son, Siphamandla, has since been roped into the popular music outfit ahead of the show dubbed Bring Back the Good Times scheduled for Saturday at the Large City Hall.

Event co-ordinator, Vusumuzi Siqalaba, said the group has decided to reconnect with their loyal fans in Bulawayo.

“This will be the first tour of the group in Zimbabwe following the death of Masondo,” he said.

“Moses Ngwenya, the sole survivor from the original five-member Soul Brothers, has since reassembled an impeccable vocalist line-up, which includes dancers and Masondo’s son, Siphamandla.”

Siqalaba said the music outfit will also bring along the group Imitshotshovu, featuring renowned Maskandi artiste, Bheki Ngcobo, popularly known as Ihashi Elimhlophe.

“Ihashi is a founding member of the original Imitshotshovu group, founded in 1985,” he said.

“Imitshotshovu will perform songs like Icala, Inkani and Induku to bring back the good times.”

Siqalaba said Kekana, who is renowned for being the “real competitor” to the Soul Brothers back in the 1980s, became a household name in Bulawayo’s shebeens with hit tracks such as Yinhle Lento, Iphupho, Woza Mpelasonto, Insuku Ezadlula and Isiphalaphala.

“This will be the first time Steve Kekana shares the stage with the Kings of Mbhaqanga,” Siqalaba said.

Meanwhile, Ngwenya has promised their Bulawayo fans “an unforgettable show”.
