The Christmas-themed medley video features Ras Caleb, Platinum Prince, Master H and Uncle Epaton.

Joni said the video is one of his many productions and has received great reviews.

“People are really appreciating this initiative, as it brings a new lease of life from boring music videos that have been released throughout the year. The local film industry has had challenges in funding their production in the past and music videos were not spared,” he said.

“In Zimbabwe we have the talent, equipment, and suitable resources to produce great films and music videos, but I have noticed that very few artists or stakeholders tend to want to invest in our industry, as we have seen a number of artists crossing the border to South Africa to have their music videos done.”

Joni said, while in South Africa one had to fork out about $5 000 for a music video, yet he could produce a better product with the same amount.

One of the producers at Chillspot, DJ Fantan said they decided to release the video first and then the songs later, as a way to market the songs and the riddim.

“I am happy we have managed to produce a good quality Kisimusi video. In this production we are thankful to Information Communication Technology and Cyber Security minister Supa Mandiwanzira, Elder Shambare and Kausina Banda for their support and efforts as they funded the production of the video,” he said.

Joni, who worked as a video editor at the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation for five years, has produced music videos such as Winky D’s Musarova Big Man, Seh Calaz’s Mabhanditi and Bad Publicity’s Mutoro and Mwana Wenyu Uyu by Ras Caleb as well as Hurombo by TiGonzi featuring Cindy Munyavi.
