Marvin Ngwenya from Sikumbi village under Chief Shana was convicted on his own plea of guilt to bestiality when he appeared before Victoria Falls magistrate Rangarirai Gakanje.

State witness and donkey owner, Bernard Mlauzi said he spotted a torch shining in his kraal last Wednesday evening.

He went to investigate and saw a naked Ngwenya sexually abusing his donkey.

Mlauzi said Ngwenya bolted out of the kraal naked as he tried to apprehend him, leaving all his clothes behind.

A police report was made, leading to Ngwenya’s arrest at his homestead.

Mlauzi said it was not the first time he suspected that Ngwenya was abusing his donkey.

In mitigation, Ngwenya said he did not know why he craved for sex with a donkey.

“I think I was possessed. It was something that just came to my mind in a forceful manner and I had to do it. I apologise to my neighbour for abusing his donkey and I plead with the courts to be lenient with me,” he pleaded.

His abandoned undergarments and shirt were bought to court as exhibits.

Ngwenya will serve four months in jail after two months of the sentence were suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
