In a statement yesterday, presidential spokesperson George Charamba, yesterday said the donations comprising of rice, mealie-meal, cooking oil and sanitary items, were part of the First Lady’s charity work.

“The First Lady sourced the packs mainly from a benevolent charitable foundation, which has a history of caring for the vulnerable in Zimbabwe and various other countries.

“The foundation has worked previously with other first ladies in Africa, who are involved in philanthropic work,” he said. Charamba said the donations will continue after Christmas.
