Zimdancehall awards nominees released

THE much-awaited Zimdancehall Awards nominees are out, with surprise nominations of young and promising artists topping the list. Nominees from 11 categories out of 25 have since been released with the remaining categories to be finalised today, according to the awards hosts, Oscar Pambuka Productions (OPP).

The awards are scheduled for December 29 at a venue to be announced.

The nomination process was done through Facebook. The “Zimdancehall Awards 2017” Facebook page — where voting for the final winners will be conducted — has since been created.

The organisers thanked the fans for nominating the artistes and said it was not an easy process coming up with the final list.

They urged fellow artistes who were not nominated to work extra hard so that they will be nominated in future.

OPP cancelled the voting on WhatsApp and text to promote Facebook as the only platform to cast the votes.

Kinnah got the nod from the fans as he was nominated in four categories; King of Zimdancehall, Best Male Vocalist, Best dressed Male Artist and Best Performer. He will fight it out with Winky D in three of the categories, with the exception of Best Male Vocalist where he battles it out with Seh Calaz, Guspy Warrior, Calcious and Freeman.

Empress Massina, Kadija, Xpatriot and Daruler battled it out in the Queen of Zimdancehall and Best Female Vocalist categories while Lady Squanda and Lindsay were nominated once in the respective categories.
