HUNDREDS of Zanu PF supporters yesterday gathered at late Vice-President Joshua Nkomo’s statue in Bulawayo before marching in the city, as they mobilised people to attend the youth interface rally to be addressed by President Robert Mugabe at White City Stadium today.

The party youths also conducted clean-up campaigns in parts of Makokoba as a strategy to mobilise attendance.
Mugabe’s interface rally comes amid calls by the opposition parties for residents to boycott the event in protest at the failure by the ruling government to create jobs and industries.
The crowd, led by the police and drum majorettes, marched from Zanu PF offices at Davis Hall to Nkomo’s statue in a pre-interface carnival.
However, sources claimed most of the people in the crowd were members of the armed forces in civilian clothing just to give the event more impact.
Organisers of the event said they were targeting to mobilise over 50 000 people to grace the occasion.
Zanu PF Bulawayo provincial youth league secretary for administration, Leo Nyoni, said all was in place for the rally.

Bulawayo provincial secretary for information and publicity Colleta Shoko said clean-up campaigns, a carnival and road-shows were programmed to give the event life.
Organisers said international and local artistes such as Madlela Skobokobo and Patricia Majalisa, among others, would perform at the rally.
