Although Primary and Secondary minister Lazarus Dokora yesterday said he was still to get a report on the matter, he said they had put in place mechanisms to punish examination paper leakers.

“I will get the full brief tomorrow (Monday) on that particular case, but I am aware of the order that for anyone who plays game with examinations, let them be picked and taken to court,” he said.

Sources in Chipinge said the arrest of the students came after the Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council officials received tip-offs that students were sharing examination material through their phones.

It is also understood that several students were also apprehended at various schools in Seke, Norton, Harare amd many other schools across the country.

Meanwhile, Dokora also said Zimbabwe had been nominated to chair the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) executive board for the next four years, a move that will go a long way in promoting Zimbabwe’s education system on the global market.

This came as Sihlengeni Primary School in Matabeleland South province has won the UNESCO-Japan $50 000 price on Education for Sustainable Development.
