The #OneLove campaign is an encouragement to show some love for one’s country by contributing through the ballot. An individual who loves their country ensures a good leadership is in place to take care of the governance issues of the day.

Zimbabwe has been subjected to bad governance by Zanu PF since 1980 as a result the nation has been in a permanent fudge status quo, straddling from one crisis to another.

The #OneLove phrase also captures the idea of the working together of political parties in the MDC Alliance against the tyranny and dictatorship of President Robert Mugabe and Zanu PF.

It is a campaign which was initiated by People’s Democratic Party president Tendai Biti in Harare East recently.

The campaign is currently running in Harare East, together with MDC-T youth assembly secretary-general Lovemore Chinoputsa in an endeavour to increase the number of voters in the constituency.

The campaign is expected to spread to other parts of the capital and ultimately the whole country.

In the past few days the #OneLove campaign has conducted door-to-door voter mobilisation in Harare East with the #OneLove frontman Biti leading from the front.

During this exercise the #OneLove team unearthed serious voter-rigging shenanigans initiated by Terence Mukupe of Zanu PF, who bused young people from Caledonia and forged Harare East addresses for them.

The People’s Democratic Party is of the view that this is just the tip of an iceberg, many other rigging acts will be unearthed.

This week, the #OneLove campaign will increase activity including a flier distribution, targeting 30 000 households as well as a car rally which will cover most roads in Harare East.

One Love, show some love for your country through your vote.
