After a difficult off-season, where they were deserted by some of their best players from the previous season, among them Godknows Murwira who joined Ngezi Platinum Stars and Brett Amidu who was snapped up by FC Platinum, DeMbare did not enjoy a good start to the league this term, but stand close to defying expectations.

Mutasa managed to gel youth and experience, but some of the young players have blossomed way sooner than many would have thought.

Having defeated Bulawayo City on Wednesday to climb up to second position on the league table, they face Bantu at the weekend knowing that one or both their rivals, FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum Stars, will lose points tomorrow.

Mutasa has always stressed that there is a big opportunity for them this season.

“These youngsters are there to make names for themselves. They are fresh and have the energy and they still want to learn. When you work with such youngsters you can live on hope and I am happy that they are showing and coming up as the season progresses and I am sure with more game play, they will be appreciated,” the Dynamos mentor said.

He has built a good relationship with his lads who work hard for him after he invested a lot of trust in them.

“These youngsters are giving us as the technical team the support that we need. There is a strong bond between us and the players. I am sure that is the reason we are defying the odds and trying to show those that are a bit away from us that as much as you think we don’t have what it takes to be around, here we are,” Mutasa said.

Dynamos did not travel back to Harare after their midweek 2-0 victory over Bulawayo City at Barbourfields Stadium as they prepare to take on Bantu Rovers tomorrow at the same venue.

Bantu Rovers have already been relegated and are not under pressure at all and could just be out to frustrate Dynamos.

“It was important that we rest around here because travelling on its own takes a lot of energy. We are playing a side that is well-coached by veteran Methembe Ndlovu. We saw the youngsters when we played them; they gave us a good run and you cannot take them lightly,” Mutasa said.

DeMbare, who have 64 points, the same as Ngezi Platinum, and two behind leaders FC Platinum, can go to the top of the log tomorrow depending on the result between the two platinum miners.

They will be banking on the experience of skipper Ocean Mushure, who carried them with a goal and an assist in their match against Bulawayo City.
