Golden Mutize (49) was yesterday arraigned before Murehwa magistrate Richard Ramaboea facing robbery charges.

Mutize, the MDC-T’s provincial organising secretary, was granted $50 bail.

Immediately after paying the bail, he again appeared in court facing charges of seizing a book and mobile phone belonging to Zanu PF’s Muchinjike Ward 4 vice-chairperson Angela Mangwende (48), who was writing down names of party members who had registered to vote.

He will return to court on November 14 for trial.

According to court papers, on October 29, Mutize allegedly approached the complainant, who was 200 metres away from the BVR site at Muchinjike Primary School.

It is alleged that the accused forcibly took the complainant’s book which was being used to record Zanu PF supporters who were registering.

The accused allegedly took a Samsung phone before he sped away.

The matter was reported to the police, leading to Mutize’s arrest.

Of the seized goods, only the exercise book was recovered.
