The platinum miners will win the title if they win against Chapungu, but could miss out to second-placed Dynamos if they fail to collect all three points at Ascot Stadium.

After beating third-placed Ngezi Platinum Stars at the weekend, Mapeza said his side have the pedigree to beat anyone in the league.

“I must admit that destiny is definitely in our hands. True champions believe they can pull through regardless of the hurdles they have ahead of them,” Mapeza said. “We won against the strongest opponents (Ngezi Platinum Stars) this season and we can still do it on the last day. We have been winning all our last games, so what will stop us from winning this year’s title? It’s just a matter of staying focused, and believing,” Mapeza said.

With a total of 69 points, they have fate in their favour though the renowned gaffer admits that Ascot is a tricky hunting ground, as some of the big guns stumbled there.

FC Platinum’s rise has been billed as a bridesmaid and for them to win the club’s first title after getting close twice. The platinum miners had a fine run with 19 wins, 12 draws and only two losses so far. No team has fewer defeats than them this season.

Dynamos can spoil the party if they beat Chicken Inn and FC Platinum fail to beat Chapungu. Mapeza is happy that his team will not have to rely on other results and everything is within their control.

FC Platinum beat Chapungu in the reverse fixture, but were booted out of the Chibuku Super Cup by the airmen.

Chapungu can lift themselves into the top half of the league with a win, which will be important for next season’s cup competitions.

The Tendai Chikuni-coached side know how to use home advantage and only two teams, Dynamos and Hwange, managed to beat Chapungu at Ascot.

FC Platinum are in top form and have only dropped two points in their last five matches.
