MULTI-AWARD winning musician Mukudzei Mukombe, aka Jah Prayzah, ran for dear life at Glen Forest Cemetery yesterday after some mourners at the burial of his former head of security, Chrispen Nyemba, pelted him with missiles under unclear circumstances.

In a 13-second amateur video, which has since gone viral on different social media platforms, the lanky musician is seen dodging missiles movie-style, with some irate mourners charging at him, while others shouted obscenities.

Nyemba, who had parted ways with Jah Prayzah about four months ago, according to the musician’s manager Keen Mushapaidze, died early Sunday morning in a road traffic accident in the capital.

Although NewsDay could not independently verify the claims, some sources privy to the developments alleged that the Mdara Vachauya hitmaker had not offered any assistance towards Nyemba’s burial, leaving relatives and friends seething with anger.

“Jah Prayzah dumped Chrispen. He failed to contribute even a dollar towards the burial of his former security, that is cruel. When he was phoned, he claimed to be in a meeting and only to come at the burial with his aides, who pushed and shoved people, which angered some mourners who started pelting him,” the source said.

Others, however, said Jah Prayzah had paid his condolences at the deceased’s home.

Mushapaidze said they were shocked with what happened, claiming there was no bad blood between Jah Prayzah and the deceased since they parted ways.

“We worked very well with Chrispen, that is why we went to the burial to pay our last respects, but it was unfortunate that it went otherwise. Although we had parted ways about four months ago, if not more, we had to attend the funeral because we worked well together,” he said.

“If we had exchanged harsh words with Chrispen, we could not have attended the funeral. At the funeral, we did not even get the chance to hear their story as people continued throwing stones.”

Mushapaidze poured cold water on claims that they had not fully paid the deceased his dues when they parted ways.

“We parted ways in a good way and we solved everything, as we paid Chrispen all his dues. We don’t make such a mistake that we split and fail to pay someone his dues,” he said.

  1. “Kutonga kwaro” i heard scurried for cover with the not so long dreads following behind his head, although the video is very haze on what was going on ,pse lets not resort to violence, richabva zvaro pachigaro kanaraneta nekutonga raitaurwa naJah.

  2. Violence! Really Zimbabweans? So not us. We can do better than that. Even he if had not brought aide is that what we do our close relatives who fail to do the same? Chero kubvisa yechema yacho ,maitoda akwire pamusoro pegomo achishedzera kuti “ndakubvisa mari yechema ndionei?” I even doubt those mobsters where Cris’s relatives. Failures are always intimidated by accomplishers.-Shinga

  3. Jah Prayzah haana hunhu. Haana kunobata maoko wongokaruka wauya kumakuva.Chris left JP for failure t get his dues in time. This is mere PR stance to clean his mess. Kumashow ikoko tichakudhinda heavy. Mira hako, magumo ako akusvika

  6. Not contributing to the funeral just doesn`t seem like a good reason for stoning – Either the stoners were not even the deceased`s family after all or there is a bigger story behind the scenes.
And that: “with his aides, who pushed and shoved people” is just not necessary esp at a funeral.

  7. its amazing how Zimbabweans focus on trivial things when there are other serious issues-bread and butter issues.Kusumudzira musoro Jah Praizer asi Zanu PF yakutambisai nhova, left right and centre.Dai jambanja irori mukutoitira ku State House pane kuitira kumakuva.Always majoring on the minor nxaaaaaaa!!!!

  9. This is so pathetic i watched this video more than once and i am failing to understand what JP did wrong. First what do you expect from an artist who is well known like him, when people see him irrespective where he is people will react because they are his fans, they want to greet him and be close to him so that is why he traveled with his board guards so that he wont cause the disturbance at the funeral. The reason why those people were pushed sending the signal that people were happy to see him there that is why the bouncers were pushing people.

Besides that it is in our culture that any condolence should be accompanied with money to help the family with any funeral arrangements so to say JP did not give the family any contribution is not fair because we were not there and even besides that his presence is more important than money that you want him to pay.

So to cut the long story short not that i am the supporter for JP. but we Zimbabweans we do not appreciate people who are doing well, as we speak now I consider JP one of the best artist currently in the country. Those people who attacked JP at the funeral they have high level of jealousy which is very very dangerous and their anger is misplaced. My advise to them is stop hating the talent that God gave him rather sit down and brain storm what you can do and we will support you if it worth it.

  10. But vamwe vanhu vanondishamisa shuwa, so those who attacked JP can they tell us what they gained?? and to JP its painful but these people are just pushing you to the top…saka usatya nazvo pamberi nemhanzi

  11. Kuita mbiri yekuti takamhanyisa JP from the funeral. I bet that’s the only time these vagabonds have been near greatness. Maybe the whole clan kana one person who has amounted to anything. Mob psychology inonetsa. If you separate these people vanenge vachitoda kumukumbira mari or basa. The man works hard, it’s not easy to achieve what he has done. The most easiest thing to do is to be idle, kungogara badzi. Munhu tsvaga your hustle, kwete kumirira mari yemumwe. Mabasa kana achinetsa pelt Mugabe with stones next time you see him at Heroes Acre. Vanhu don’t depend on chema, put funeral policies in place.

  12. Sota zvako JP mumhanzi tifare zvedu mukati mengehena matiri umu . Utori mberi wakadaro
