The conference will run under the theme: Building a Better Economy and is inspired by the current state of the economy and a response on how best the Zimbabwean business sector can contribute towards nation-building by brainstorming ways and means to make the economy better, Icaz said.

Labour and Economic Development Research Institute of Zimbabwe founding director, Godfrey Kanyenze will present on protectionism versus the manufacturing capacity utilisation, analysing whether it has gone up or down after the promulgation of Statutory Instrument 64 last year.

Confederation of Zimbabwe Industries president Sifelani Jabangwe and Buy Zimbabwe Kipson Gundani chief economist are also part of the panellists.

Icaz president Martin Makaya will also present at the conference.

Other presenters include legislators from across the political divide, who include advocate Nelson Chamisa (MDC-T), Terence Mukupe (Zanu PF) and Temba Mliswa (independent).

Last year, Icaz signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, an international and well reputed accounting body dedicated to public sector finance to work with government through the Auditor- General’s Office to facilitate a specialised public sector professional qualification for the benefit of public sector accountants and auditors.
