DYNAMOS coach Lloyd Mutasa has asked the team’s supporters in Midlands to aid their final push for the 2017 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title by turning Ascot Stadium into a fortress when Chapungu host DeMbare’s title rivals FC Platinum.

Mutasa said the supporters should not only concentrate on the match in Harare, but should also help the title bid by pushing Chapungu on.

Dynamos need Chapungu to get a win against FC Platinum for them to pip their Zvishavane-based rivals to stand a chance of winning the crown.

“I would say to all our supporters, those in Midlands go and support Chapungu and those residing in Harare come and support your team,” Mutasa said.

Dynamos have multitudes of supporters countrywide and will surely dominate FC Platinum in the grandstands.

It will be one of the biggest matches that Ascot will host this season.

Mutasa knows that his team will need to do their job against Chicken Inn for them to have any interest in the Zvishavane match.

His team has always struggled against Chicken Inn, but he is convinced that they can put an end to the poor run.

“Of course, we have struggled in the past against Chicken Inn, but the fact that we drew in the last match is a sign of improvement so we remain positive. They (Chicken Inn) have a very good coach Rahman Gumbo and they have got experienced players, but we are more than motivated. We are looking to end the season on a high,” he said.

Dynamos’ inspirational captain Ocean Mushure has hailed his troops for defying odds to sustain the title challenge after they had been written off.

Mushure said they were happy with the progress the team had made this season despite the challenges they faced after losing several players to other clubs. He said they would try to sign off the season with a win and let the future take care of itself.

The skipper said they will be firmly focused on Chicken Inn and would only worry about the Chapungu match after they complete their job.

“Our focus at the moment is against Chicken Inn. We won’t be distracted by events elsewhere, we will keep focused on the job at hand. This is what we have always been doing, we are not interested in events we have no control over. Chicken Inn are our opponents and this is the game we have control over. So we have to try and win it so that we end the season on a high. If we win against Chicken Inn, whatever happens will be a bonus,” Mushure said.

The full-back has this season been often deployed as an attacking midfielder by Mutasa, a tactic which has worked wonders as he has scored nine goals to become the club’s second leading scorer after striker Christian Ntouba Epoupa who has netted 12 times.

Dynamos are locked in a fierce tussle for the championship with log leaders FC Platinum who are on 69 points, while they are two points behind.

Should the Glamour Boys win against Chicken Inn and FC Platinum falter against Chapungu at Ascot the same day, they will be crowned champions.

In the event that FC Platinum draw against Chapungu and Dynamos win against Chicken Inn, the two teams will finish the season tied on 60 points with Dynamos likely to win it because of a superior goal difference.

They have previously won it three times owing to a superior goal difference, In 2011, Dynamos won the league title tied on 58 points with FC Platinum, while in 2012, they were tied on 69 points with Highlanders. In 2013, they also beat Highlanders to the championship on goal difference, thus history appears to favour Dynamos. Mutasa remains confident they will get a good result against Chicken Inn despite having struggled in previous meetings. Should Dynamos win the title, it will be a maiden league championship for Mutasa in the top-flight league.
