Gwatipedza cited the September Zanu PF youth interface rally in the Midlands capital, where roads leading to Mkoba high-density suburbs were jointly rehabilitated by the department of roads and council.

“During the interface (rally) (in September) we took advantage of the coming of the President and got $1,5 million approved by Zinara to repair roads in the city centre and parts of Mkoba,” Gwatipedza said during a full council meeting last week.

She said council decided to have the Senga route rehabilitated ahead of Mugabe’s anticipated visit to the Midlands State University graduation ceremony on Friday.

Bitumen World (Pvt) Ltd, which is undertaking the work, was awarded a $2,3 million tender under the emergency roads rehabilitation programme.
