Alexander Mwembe (38) and Jealous Moomba (44) were sentenced on Tuesday by Hwange magistrate Rosemary Dube who convicted them on their own plea of guilty.

For the State, Paidamoyo Makuvaza said on November 9, police and Zimparks rangers received a tip off that the two were in the business of selling tusks at their homesteads.

They approached them the same night posing as potential clients and sought to see the tusk before opening payment negotiations.

Mwembe then showed them a fresh tusk weighing 3,960kg, leading to their arrest.
