WITH just over two months remaining to wave goodbye to 2017, we reflect and see the goodness of God in the land of the living. By Erasmus Makarimayi

Of course, some are quick to grumble, but, please, know that it could have been worse had it not been for the kindness of God.

As we objectively do our stocktake, indeed, there were setbacks as much as there were giant forward steps.

I wish to build on the positives and generate positive energy and enthusiasm which is the tonic for your progress in life.

As a grace believer you look ahead based on the finished/accomplished works of Jesus Christ. We despise and ignore shame and look straight ahead with focus and determination like a compass that keeps pointing to the North no matter what.

You may not immediately see that you’re older today by a day than you were yesterday but you have grown. Sleeping doesn’t stop our growing.

Without effort or scratching our heads, hair grows white or head becomes bald. So, as you read and meditate on the Word and pray and confess accordingly, you grow.

If this has been your trend, you’re better and more now than when you started. The grace of God has been working in and on you. I generally share this message around this time of the year. We neither surrender, run away, cave in nor fizzle out because we’re born of incorruptible seed.

1 Peter 1:23 states, “Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.” Believers are determined, focussed and committed.

Jesus teaches the concept of how the Kingdom advances. The passage in Mark 4:26-29 reads, “[26] And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; [27] And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. [28] For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. [29] But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.”

How the seed springs up isn’t the sower’s concern. The believer is drawn to the fostering care of the Spirit of God. In verse 28, it’s clearly stated that the earth brings forth fruit of herself.

The branch cannot bear fruit of itself. Without Christ we can do nothing, and that when we live it is not we but Christ who lives in us. Such is the grace of God.

The life of grace is a natural process in the supernatural sphere. In one sense it is all of God, who maketh His sun to rise, and sendeth rain, without which the earth could bear no fruit of herself.

In another sense, we must work out our own salvation all the more earnestly because it is God who works in us.

The seed of the Word sown has power to develop into the rich fruit of Christian character. We have to be patient and be content with gradual process. God your Father is aware and cares for you.

While you sleep to rest, He remains awake for your sake.

He declares in Psalm 121:4, “Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.” Please relax, you’re covered.

God promised never to leave nor abandon us saying in Hebrews 13:5c, “for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Please enjoy the grace of God in faith and peace without fear.

You’re not forgotten. Consider Isaiah 49:15. It reads, “Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.”

You have God’s assurance. As we reflect on the year we remain confident. We don’t panic fearing to exit the year empty-handed.

The year starts with so much zeal, hope and expectation only to dwindle when results don’t immediately appear evident.

Many scuttle and trample on the harvest by trying out rushed stopgap measures. This is not the time to run around looking for solutions.

Remain focused, God’s will for your life still stands. You have seen some of the results. Trust God for the manifestation of the rest of 2017 resolutions. Open your eyes and see your harvest.

Without outward human interference, the seed will fructify. Please be patient, you’re growing.
