POPULAR sungura artiste Josphat Somanje has featured dendera exponent Sulumani Chimbetu on one of the songs off his forthcoming six-track album titled Moto Uyo.

Sulu took part in the song Ndashaya from the album scheduled for official launch on Wednesday next week at City Sports Bar in Harare.
The launch will coincide with that of Biggie Tembo (Jnr.) who will be unveiling his album, Chinhambwe, on the same date and at the same venue.
Somanje said he roped in Sulu on Ndashaya because the song speaks of the hornbill bird (dendera) and hence thought of doing it together with Sulu.
“It is true that Sulu featured on the song Ndashaya. His input is what we all needed, as the song speaks of the characteristics of the hornbill bird. The bird is quiet and humble but very difficult to kill. It’s rare to have the bird killed despite it being slow. So the message coincided with the fact that Sulu is leading the Orchestra Dendera Kings band, hence, the idea to rope him in,” he said.
“As artistes, we help each other in the industry and I am happy that Sulu agreed to work with me. I am confident that our fans will like the new album that we are going to officially launch on September 27 in Harare.”
Other songs on the album — which is Somanje’s eleventh following his departure from Pengaudzoke — are Moto Mugotsi, Bvepfe, Ndanyara, Sagonda and Ndoenda Mberi.
Somanje launched his music career in the 1980s where he formed the majestic Pengaudzoke with his late brother, Daiton.
However, the two separated and he formed Somanje Stars band. His albums include This Time, Sango Remichero, Kudya Kwenzeve, Ndozvazviri and Nhengure.
