She said the song, Kubvira Kunge Moto, was featured on the film, Mind Games, directed by Charles Mawungwa. The production won the Best Film award with the main actor scooping the Best Actor gong.

“I was so happy when the director of the film said he had listened to my music and liked the track, Kubvira Kunge Moto and wanted it to be part of the film,” Munyikwa said.

“The song symbolises someone who is eager to make it no matter the challenges they are facing. It really fitted well with the film’s theme.”

The track was produced by Jeepers at Legendary Music in 2016. Munyikwa said she was charmed that people were now accepting her music and she was happy that Mind Games scooped the awards.

Mind Games is a local thriller which stars Dax L Jackson and Kevin Hansen as the lead actors. The film was written, directed and shot on location in Zimbabwe by Mawungwa.

Mawungwa said the film had a blend of international and national flair hence the decision to incorporate Munyikwa’s music.

“I have used Hope Masike and Alexio Kawara’s music in my previous production. Since Zimdancehall is at its peak, I thought why not make it part of the creative process?” Mawungwa said.

Munyikwa rose to fame after releasing a track titled Ukandizembera, which was produced by award winning producer, Michael Murumbi of Chillspot Recordz on a riddim called Chilslam in 2014.
