Maruta, 41, had initially denied the charges before Marondera magistrate, Ignatius Mhene convicted him on all the charges on Tuesday and remanded him to tomorrow for sentence.

The court heard that the accident happened along the Harare-Mutare Highway on April 10.

Maruta lost control of his Nissan Hardbody truck at the 112km peg and rammed into a parked Honda Fit with four passengers on board.

The car then hit three vendors, who were selling their wares on the roadside, killing two of them on the spot, while the other one died on admission at Marondera Provincial Hospital.

The other five injured people were rushed to the same hospital for treatment.
