Wonder Ncube (19) of Gwanya Village under Chief Pashu, was yesterday convicted on his own plea of guilty to unlawful entry and theft when he appeared before Hwange magistrate Sharon Rosemani.

He was remanded in custody to tomorrow for sentence.

Prosecutor Onias Nyathi told the court that on April 14, Ncube joined fellow congregants for prayer sessions in an ECD classroom at Tinde Primary School, but later stole two learning machines, a puncher, a skipping rope and a first aid kit and stashed the loot into his bag.

Later that evening, he went back to the school, broke into the storeroom and stole a bundle of barbed wire and took it to his homestead.

The matter was reported to police, leading to Ncube’s arrest last Thursday.

The value of the stolen goods was $ 189 and all the loot was recovered.

In mitigation, Ncube told the court that he was possessed by the evil spirits on the day of the offence.
