Five countries — Zambia, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Botswana, Malawi and hosts Namibia — are expected to battle it out for top honours.

Zimbabwe Netball Association president, Letitia Chipandu said the team was confident of getting glory having worked hard in their preparations.

“We are confident the team will perform better and we are doing our preparations and it is now up to the players to raise the country’s flag high,” she said.

“The girls are focused on the task at hand. National pride is of more significance to them than anything else.

“I can gladly say all the players have been practising for this tour at their respective clubs and we are now ready and looking forward to positive results. I am very confident we can make it considering the amount of work the girls have been putting.”

Zimbabwe will be targeting success, which will improve their rankings.

“The team is intact and the players are competing every week in league games at their respective clubs, so they are more than prepared,” Chipandu said.

“To us, this is an important tournament because if we do well, it would help us on the international rankings as well as gauge ourselves against competitive sides in the world.”

She said the coaches were considering blending the team with outstanding Under-20 girls who participated at the Africa Championships held in Uganda.
